A big part of life is juggling
December 21st, 2011 § Leave a Comment
A large and important part of every day is deciding what to do and coordinating various different things.
A simple way to think about this is, that it’s like juggling. You’re juggling people, ideas, your feelings, your energy levels, logistics, the things around you, and technology. Just to name a few.
There can easily be an overwhelming number of variables to juggle. Staying calm, cool, and in touch with a variety of elements in your proximity, helps you juggle.
Sorry I just dropped into ProxThink-speak, but it really is sometimes the most efficient, comprehensive, and elegant way to speak about a situation.

In this life, not only do you need to face and conquer many things in the external world, but you need to face and conquer many inner fears and unhelpful habits.

Sometimes, just being alive has to be enough
August 8th, 2011 § Leave a Comment
There are moments when just being alive has to be enough. Many moments actually.
Because other people can’t sustain you all the time. And your work, your hobbies, your interests, or any external things or relationships can’t sustain you all the time.
So sometimes, just being alive has to be enough.

A decadent way to end the day: fresh blueberries, pistachios (nutmeats are the easiest), good chocolate, and a glass of wine.
It’s the Variety, Friend

I believe almost no one gets as much variety as they crave or deserve. The ProxThink Sustainable Proximities approach could change that. It could help us create sustainable proximities within which each of us individually, and together in groups, could experience more variety.
The partials and the gap-fillers

Relationships with other people and the world will usually be incomplete, partial, and sometimes frustrating.
So this creates a need for things like belief systems and personality, to fill in the gaps. Also, things like philosophies, possessions, money, art, music, fashion and personal style.
A danger is if these gap-fillers become mistaken for the whole of reality.
You can’t forget that huge parts of life are the unpredictable, incomplete and often chaotic relationships with other people and the world. And, that we need to embrace these parts of life too.

With ProxThink, perhaps I’ve invented some new ways to be reasonable, balanced and measured, but in ways that promote life and vitality.

Flow of Life

Ultimately, perhaps there is no reason to get up in the morning, or to start, stop or continue doing anything, or to enjoy anything, other than this reason: to be in the flow of life.
Being in the flow of life is another way of saying being related to life. Being is about relating, which is one of the foundations of ProxThink.
Many organizations, systems and processes, or parts thereof, from philosophy, religion and books, to businesses, markets and governments, to friends, networks, associations and family relationships, exist at least in part to keep us in the flow of life, or encourage us in the flow of life.

One must live life for a wide variety of reasons, the sum of which is greater than any of them.
